Biking and the Cherry Blossoms
By spokesman | April 2, 2009

The Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C. are one of the highlights of the city for both tourists and residents. They bloom for a very short time usually in late March or early April. The peak of the Cherry Blossoms will occur this weekend and the weather is predicted to be beautiful, so the crowds will be very large.
The Cherry Blossom trees surround the Tidal basin near the Jefferson Memorial. Details on the location of the trees, the history and the Cherry Blossom festival including a link to a video camera are on the National Park Service Cherry Blossom web page.
Biking is an excellent way to see the Cherry Blossoms. You can avoid the traffic and won’t have to search for a parking space. However when you arrive at the Tidal Basin, be prepared to lock up your bike or walk it through the crowds. It may even be too crowded to ride around Hains Point due to the car traffic looking to park.
