I went to the Stop, Swap and Save Bike Swap in Westminster, Maryland  this past Sunday.  The Swap has been an annual event for the past 12 years but this is the first time that I went and it was worth the trip.  There were over 100 booths and it was attended by 3,500 people.  The vendors were selling both new merchandise and used items.  There were also booths featuring charity rides, professional races, touring companies and artists.

The swap was excellent.  I was impressed by the number and variety of vendors as well as the prices.  I didn’t go with the intention of buying anything but spent over $100.  The same items would have cost  50-75% more anywhere else.  The seminars were very good.

The Swap is an excellent place to sell a bike.  For a $5 fee, you can lock the bike in a rack where shoppers can look at it.  If someone is interested in buying the bike, you will be paged.  You can enjoying the rest of the Swap, while others are looking at your bike.  It is a much easier way to sell a bike than using Craigslist.

The Stop, Swap and Save has expanded this year and will be holding another swap in Chesterfield, VA on Sunday March 1st.  If you are in the area, it is definitely worth checking out.
