Traveling to the 2009 Giro D’Italia
By spokesman | January 18, 2009
The Giro D’Italia route was announced last month and Lance Armstrong has confirmed that he will ride in the race. He will riding the first stage race of his comeback - the Tour Down Under in Australia - starting this week. After that race, the publicity about the Giro will increase. If you want to see Lance in Italy, it is time to make plans
Look at the results of a search for Giro D’Italia tours from the BicycleSpokesman Tour search engine to see the different tour options. There are many companies that will have Giro D’Italia Tours. The course this year includes many beautiful and scenic places. The tour begins with a team time trial in Venice. It includes the cities of Florence, Milan and Rome. The tour crosses the border into Austria for 1 day. It also has 5 mountain top finishes, which should make for a dramatic race. One of the mountain top finishes is on Mt Vesuvius (the volcano that erupted and destroyed Pompeii).
Many of the tours allow you to see multiple stages and ride parts of the course. For planning a trip, additional information about the route can be found at the Steephill TV Giro website . That is also a great website to follow the race and news about it. The drop in oil prices and the weakening of the Euro has brought airfares to a much more reasonable level than just a few month ago. Check out the travel partners page for bargains.

I’m taking my bike to the Giro and want to ride part of the routes for the different stages. Where can I get detail roadmaps for each stage?
Thanks
The website http://www.steephill.tv/giro-d-italia/ has the most detailed maps that I have seen for the Giro. The site is going to be adding more detailed maps in Google Earth.
