Winter Bike Tours In Hawaii

Bicycle touring is seasonal activity. Many tour companies don’t have any tours in the winter months while other still offer tours but there are far less options. During the winter months, many of the most popular bicycling destinations including Italy, France and parts of the United States are too cold or snowy for tours. Yet there are still many good options. One popular option is Hawaii. The weather in Hawaii is good for year round touring. Many of the major tour companies offer tours in Hawaii in the winter months to attract U.S travelers with few options in the winter. Most of the major bike tour companies including Bicycle Adventures, Backroads and Vermont Bicycle Tours (VBT) have tours in Hawaii.
The most popular Hawaii tour is a loop of the big island of Hawaii. Some of the sites on the big Island included in these tours are the Kona Coast, the Parker Ranch and Volcano National Park, which includes an active volcano and lava flows. The picture at the top of this post is the lava flow at Volcano National Park. It is truly a unique sight and something that all visitors to the big island should see.

A bike tour in Hawaii this winter would be fantastic! Too bad I am going to brave the cold in Europe instead. Maybe next year?

I toured the big Island of Hawaii on a self supported tour. The Parker Ranch is a must see for anyone visiting the Island.

I rode on Maui down Haleakula. It is a great ride - all down hill from 10,000 feet to sea level. They drive you to the top of the mountain to start p>
